The city of Memphis, the 1st capital of the united kingdom of ancient Egypt· It is the oldest capital of Egypt, was built by King Menes, and lies 24 km southwest of Cairo.

Sakkara is the ancient site of Memphis City, hence it abounds in monuments, antiquities and tombs, and it is the most ancient burial ground in ancient Egypt. It lies on a desert plateau in the southwest of Cairo. Above rises the step-pyramid and mortuary compound, The necropolis of Sakkara, that has the funerary complex of king Zoser and his step pyramid that is considered the oldest stone building in the world built by the engineer Imhotep, the first of the III Dynasty pharaohs circa 2780 BC, the Mastaba of Meriruka, which has 33 chambers & corridors, the Mastaba of Kagemni and the pyramid of king Teti with its famous Pyramid's Texts.

Visit one of the papyrus galleries located in pyramids area. Drive back to hotel.
