Full day tour to St. Catherine Monastery

Early morning, our tour guide picks up you from hotel by one of our modern air-conditioned vehicles to drive for approximately 3 hours through Sinai desert to the Monastery of St. Catherine. The views there are really amazing. The monastery is situated 1571 m above sea level, we will visit the church of St. Catherine, the Icons gallery, the Charnel house, the burning bush, Moses well, the Library of the monastery. The monastery was built by order of Emperor Justinian I between 527 and 565, enclosing the chapel of the burning bush ordered to be built by Helena, the mother of Constantine I, at the site where Prophet Moses is supposed to have seen the burning bush; the living bush on the grounds is purportedly the original. It is also referred to as "St. Helen's chapel". The site is sacred to Judaism, Christianity and Islam. A Fatimid mosque was built within the walls of the monastery, but it has never been used since it is not correctly oriented towards Mecca. Then we will have some fun and adventures, to discover the extraordinary colors and shapes of the rocks which were formatted by nature. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in St. Cathrine area. We move from the monastery towards Dahab to spend a couple of hours on red sea shore of Dahab. For who like to swim they have chance to do. The others are able to do some shopping. Here you will find a large selection of souvenirs such as papyrus prints, brass lamps, jewelry, perfumes, leathers and inlaid boxes, all at prices generally cheaper than in Sharm el Sheikh. In late afternoon, drive back to Sharm El Sheikh.
