I was picked up punctually by Mohammed Hassan (highly recommend asking for him if you can) who gave me an insightful and knowledgable running commentary of Cairo as we drove through the city. He stayed with me throughout the day, and when I was ok to wander by myself, he stayed in the background and was able to fend off the many other guides who want your business around the archaeological sites. I really appreciated this, and I would not recommend anyone trying to go without an organised tour. 

Hoda my guide for the day, a passionate Egyptian lady who really delved into the history of the country and also clearly explained (in excellent English) what I was about to see, and the history, so it made sense when we were there. She has been doing this for over 20 years so knew her stuff!

Although I didn't ride a camel or a horse (too uncomfortable for me personally) I could see from others doing it that you do really get a very different perspective of the pyramids by doing so. Maybe for the younger tourist. What I did appreciate was Hoda advising me on the fair price to pay, and who not to use. This was useful as many tourists really don't know where the line between fair and ripped off is. Rimo Tours were always very transparent. Hoda was a lovely lady. 

The most important part was that Mohammed was a very safe driver. I would never attempt to drive in Cairo. It's chaos. But weirdly, once he described how the 'rules' of the road work, I felt more at ease, and at no time did I feel he wasn't in control. A-Z in the back of a very comfortable car. Mohammed was a very polite, respectful man and I enjoyed his company throughout the day. 

Both Hoda and Mohammed are excellent photographers and were able to help me capture this special moment on my iPhone. Serious hows, fun shots - they know all the tricks to get that photo you want. 

In summary, I got to see everything I wanted, and I felt safe and secure with this tour.  I would recommend it!

Make sure you have enough water for the day and snacks. Lunch can be arranged or bring your own. Each site costs EGP200 for entry so bring some cash for the day as well. 

It's well worth it!
